James Pegg's 'actioncast' porcelain displays the movement involved as he applies the stained slip. Each part of the process holds an element of risk, not least the stage at which the piece is endowed with its colour giving each one a unique pattern.
This incense holder is what first drew us to James' work. He says he was inspired by a tree trunk in a boutique in Antwerp - at one end of the huge log was an incense stick burning. Hence the oversized cube which holds one incense stick and has a small dip in the centre. You can also use it for burning palo Santo or smudge sticks.
