Hechimon Shigaraki Ware Mini Pot/Planter/Vase

£24.00

No two are alike. Funny, dignified, quietly beautiful, or appealingly lopsided — each Hechimon mini vase arrives with its own distinct character, shaped by the hands and instincts of the individual potter who made it.

That individuality is the point. Every piece is the result of a series of deliberate choices: the forming technique (wheel-thrown, slab-built, or cut), the way the glaze is applied (brushed, poured, or sprayed), and the method of firing (oxidised, reduced, or smoked). Layer those decisions across a workshop of skilled craftspeople and what emerges is a collection of vessels that feel more like something grown than manufactured — closer to the harvest than the factory floor.

Versatile by nature, the mini vase works equally well as a flower vase, a pot cover for a small plant, or simply as an object to live with on a shelf or windowsill. Find the one that speaks to you, then make it yours.

The Hechimon name comes from a Shigaraki craftsman's term for things shaped by the wind — irregular, individual, alive. Made by Marui-Seito in Shigaraki Town, Shiga Prefecture, using traditions from one of Japan's six ancient kiln lineages, with a history of over 1,260 years. Designated a national traditional craft in 1976.

Made in Japan. Approx. 9.5 × 9.5 × 10 cm. As each piece is handmade, dimensions, colour, and finish will vary slightly.
